Welcome to McCook
McCook, established in 1882 in the Republican River basin, is best known for producing famous United States Senators George Norris and Ben Nelson. It is also home to the latest Kildare Lumber store, opened in 1989.
McCook is Kildare Lumber's only store not located on the I-80 interstate. The concept of a Kildare Lumber branch in McCook happened after the current Kildare Lumber president, Patrick Pelster, talked with his father-in-law and McCook native, William Schilz. Schilz said that there was a definite demand for a quality hardware store in the town, an opportunity that Kildare Lumber took full advantage of.
